Popular juice drink sold in Coles and Woolworths urgently recalled

Sabrands Australia has issued an urgent recall notice for its 1L bottles of Sunraysia Prune Juice after it was discovered that the juice contained undisclosed and undeclared levels of alcohol.

According to the business, the product has been available for purchase at both Coles and Woolworths stores in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia and has a best-before date of December 4, 2025. 

The alcohol present in the recalled product is a result of unintended fermentation.

“The recall is due to unintended fermentation and the presence of alcohol,” an official notice from Food Standards Australia New Zealand said on January 16th, 2024. 

“Consumption of this product may cause illness/injury if consumed.”

Shoppers are urged to cease drinking the product, and return it to their local Coles or Woolworths store for a full refund. 

Anyone concerned about their health is urged to seek medical advice.
